Nossovitch Fernanda (Tuesday, December 2, 2008 00:28)

I'm writing a family book, my father in law grand mother was Catherine Lanceray, married with Alexis Nossovitch, who died very young. Boris, Catherine son, emigrated from France to Argentina. I want to know if Catherine Lanceray was Zinaida's sister, because we dont know anything about Catherine.

Dear Fernanda, Yes, really, Zinaida Serebryakova (nee Lanceray) had a sister named Catherine (nee Lanseray) (Yekaterina Yevgenievna, 1882-1921). But that Catherine was married to Vladimir Zelenkov (1881-after 1935), an engineer, and their son Dmitry Zelenkov died in a prison camp in the USSR. Actually, Zinaidas mother and daughter were also named Catherines: Yekaterina Nikolayevna Lanceray (1850-1933, nee Benois) and Yekaterina Borisovna Serebryakova (born 1913) respectively. So, it is difficult to say how the Catherine you are interested in was related to Zinaida Serebryakova; perhaps she was some distant cousin.

Hello Fernanda, I have been trying to get in touch with you but can't find your e-mail address. If you are interested in the family's history I may be able to help you. My grandmother was Xenia Benois and I am related to the Lanceray family as well. Besides, I am in touch with EE Lanceray's grandson who may be able to answer some of your questions.
