Austrian Diamond Aircraft Industries will join its Russian counterparts in the design and construction of a new light multi-purpose aircraft with a maximum capacity of 19 passengers.

The size of investment has not been disclosed.

Also, the United Aviation Corporation has a contract of 20 Sukhoi SuperJets (SSJ-100) to Ilyushin Finance, a lease major that is expected to sell them further to Asian customers.

Mexico's Interjet, the first Western buyer of Russia's new flagship passenger jet, has received its first Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100). Interjet has a contract for 20 planes and an option for 10 more.

Luis Garza, Interjet's CEO, announced the jet will be put into operation very soon.

The news was overshadowed by France’s Le Figaro, which issued a report on SSJ-100’s micro-failures that have been detected over the past several years.

A look at the size of investment that Russia has managed to attract (mainly from other companies) is just $2.6 billion, compared to Airbus’s 68.7 billion or Boeing’s $66.4 billion.

Russia’s combat aircraft drew much more attention.

For example, Su-35, a 4++ generation fighter, took off five times to show its aerobatics capabilities and was widely praised as the star of the flying practice.

Yak-130, a modern training aircraft, has demonstrated it can be as powerful in the air as its elder Su brother.

Ka-52, a mighty predator-looking chopper, coming on the heels of Ka-50, has been aptly called the Alligator.

But Le Bourget is hardly the right place to show off beauties like this – military budgets in Europe are squeezed at the moment, that’s why many have been asking – was it really worth bringing them all here?
