26,904 residents of the city of Vladivostok, in the Far East of Russia, gathered on the bridge to celebrate the 163rd anniversary of their home city. The massive gathering was attended by representatives of the Guiness World Records.
Residents of the town of Pugachev, in the Saratov Region, hit the streets demanding that Chechens be kicked out of town after a young man was stabbed with a scalpel by a Chechen following a bar brawl.
The residents went as far as to block a major highway between two regional centers, Volgograd and Samara. Chechens deny that the conflict was motivated by ethnic hatred, say it was purely a row that turned nasty. Some say the man who was killed was on friendly terms with many Chechens residing in Pugachev. The investigation continues, and hopefully there won't be any more casualties.
