The average daily volume of supplies of Russian gas to Germany rose by 13 percent in early July, as compared with the June index, and in July of last year the increase made up 29.7 percent.
his statement was made by the Chairman of “Gazprom” Aleksei Miller on July 6 in a press release of the gas concern received by “Lenta.Ru”. It is noted that the increase in the supplies of the “blue flame gas” to Germany is connected with the preparation of Europe for the autumn-winter period. “At the same time Ukraine does not show the required activity in the preparation for the coming winter” - the Head of “Gazprom” noted.
According to Miller’s words, the volume of gas received by Kiev by reverse has reduced dramatically. “If it reached 30.9 million cubic meters per day in June, in July it does not exceed 13.7 million, the reduction makes up 56 percent” - he explained, noting that the injection of gas into Ukrainian underground storages (UGS) also decreased. Thus, the average daily injection fell by 47 percent in early July, as compared with the June index.
“Gazprom” stopped to supply gas to Ukraine on July 1 until the company receives an advance payment for natural gas. The Ukrainian party in its turn refused to buy Russian gas due to the lack of agreements on price. The Russian Energy Minister Aleksandr Novak suggested that Ukraine’s decision to stop purchases of Russian natural gas was explained by political motives. Besides, he stated that the discount to “Naftogaz” should not exceed $ 40, because otherwise the price would be lower than the market one.
Before that the Russian party refused to sign a tripartite binding protocol on the results of gas negotiations with Ukraine in Vienna on June 30. On June 29 “Naftogaz of Ukraine” addressed “Gazprom” with a plea to grant discounts on fuel after the termination of the ones effective in the second quarter. With all allowances the final price of gas for Ukraine in the third quarter should amount to 247.18 dollars per thousand cubic meters. The corresponding decree was signed by the by Russian Prime Minister on June 29.
