Russia Resumed the Supply of Electricity to China
August 12, 2017 17:22

Russia resumed the supply of electricity to China after the restoration of electricity network in the Far East.

“We supply it to China as well, yes” - the press service of the department answered a question from the agency’s employees. On the afternoon of August 1 the following five high-voltage power lines were disconnected as a result of a power failure: “Bureyskaya HPP – Amurskaya”, “Bureyskaya HPP – Khabarovskaya”, “Amurskaya-Kheihhe”, “Khabarovskaya -Volochaevka Tyagovaya”, and “Khabarovskaya-Levoberezhnaya”. The accident led to the suspension of power supply to China.

“The export of electricity to the PRC in the volume of about 477 megawatts has been stopped” - the Ministry of Energy specified. According to the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia, more than 600 thousand residents of the Far Eastern and Siberian Federal Districts remained without electric light. As a result of the accident, the movement of trains was suspended on the section of the railway from Mogocha of the Trans-Baikal Territory to Khabarovsk.

The reason for the blackout was the overload at Bureyskaya HPP. According to the Ministry of Energy, electricity supply was restored on all five lines disconnected due to an accident at 5:30 p.m. Moscow time.
