September 6, 2017 23:29

Russia and Japan will sign about 40 agreements, including the convention on avoidance of double taxation, within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF). This was told by the Minister of Economic Development Maksim Oreshkin. He added that these agreements will bring economic relations between the countries “to a new level”.

According to him, the Russian-Japanese economic indicators show a positive trend. In particular, the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 15 percent during the first half of 2017, as compared to the same period in 2016, and exceeded 8 billion dollars. According to Oreshkin, the Russian Direct Investment Fund and the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation have created a joint fund with a capital of 1 billion dollars.

Before the beginning of the EEF, the Russian Presidential Aide Yurii Ushakov announced the signing of a “large package of bilateral documents” following the negotiations between the leaders of the Russian Federation and Japan, including the convention on elimination of double taxation.
