Russian lacquer boxes Winter Troika Ride Palekh
Palekh miniature is a Russian folk handicraft of tempera painting on lacquered articles made of papier-mache; based on the local icon-painting tradition, it appeared in the village of Palekh of the Ivanovo Region not until the early 1920s. Troika (carriage-and-three) so eloquently depicted on this lacquer box was traditionally among the most popular motifs of lacquered miniature painting. The incoercible fiery horses here convey the irrepressible force and freedom of the soul, which glows even brighter in winter frosts! Size - 17x9x3,5 cm. Weight - 0.25 kg.
