The season of Fashion Weeks in Moscow goes on. October 24 – 29, 2012 Moscow Gostiny Dvor hosts Volvo Fashion Week, where more than 50 Russian designers present their Spring-Summer’13 collections.
Moscow Fashion Week is held twice a year in Gostiny Dvor located in the very heart of Moscow close to the Kremlin. Gostiny Dvor is considered to be one of the most prestigious exposition centres in Moscow, and it has the observation deck on the roof where visitors can be taken in transparent elevators to enjoy the breathtaking views of Moscow just after the fashion shows.
Volvo Fashion Week Moscow format implies everyday designers shows, as well as presentations of the collections in the special showrooms where buyers and representatives of the companies producing fabrics, accessories, garniture and ready-made clothes have a chance to negotiate and establish contacts with the Russian designers. That is why Volvo Fashion Week is not only a fantastic show, but also a centre of business meetings and signed deals.
The history of the project stretches back to the year of 1994, when Moscow hosted the fashion event that was absolutely unique for Russia at that time, i.e. — High Fashion Week involving A-list fashion stars. It was organized by the Haute Couture and Prêt-à-porter Association founded for the purpose of the promotion and development of the national fashion. Following the global fashion trends in 2009 the Association project was named Volvo Fashion Week Moscow. Partnership with this exclusive auto brand indicates the high status of the event.
Fashion Week has discovered such talented designers as Igor Chapurin, Andrey Sharov, Tatiana Parfenova, Victoria Andreyanova, Luda Dobrokhotova, Daria Razumikhina, Olga Kameneva, Natasha Drigant, Sergey Efremov, etc.
Volvo Fashion Week Spring-Summer’13 started with the opening show by Valentin Yudashkin. The second day was dedicated to the collections of the “Russian Silhouette” (Charity Foundation, International competition îf young fashion designers) winners, fashion house Eleonor, Lublu collection by Kira Plastinina, Igor Gulyaev, etc. The final competition of young designers initiated by “Grazia” magazine was organized on the third day, while the fourth was remarkable for its fashion-show of finalists of Moscow State University of Design and Technologies competition. Some foreign designers also take part in Volvo Fashion Week Moscow.
