Dasha Gauser is a young Russian designer; however, she is already on the list of the headliners of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia. And she is the only one who has managed to present two different Spring-Summer 2013 collections this time. One of them was inspired by the legendary Barbie doll.
“Mattel” company, manufacturing and distributing Barbie dolls, signed a cooperation contract with Dasha Gauser. This means that Dasha has become responsible for creating a unique collection named “Dasha Gauser for Barbie”. Her first designs of this fashion line were presented at the end of the official programme of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia.
Barbie has become a cultural icon and has been given honors that are rare in the toy world. In fact, Barbie doll has been a source of inspiration for the great designers in many fashion houses, such as Christian Dior, Givenchy, HanaeMori, Versace, Escada, Burberry, Diane von Furstenberg, Erte, Armani, Christian Louboutin, Philipp Plein.
The launch of “Dasha Gauser for Barbie” collection, created both for the ladies and the little girls who admire Barbie, marks the opening of the official representative office of the brand in Russia. And very soon a new store for Barbie fans will be opened in one of the top shopping centers in Moscow.
Dasha Gauser has created 15 designs for the adults and 5 for the children. This is her special interpretation of Barbie’s style and history. “That’s really interesting to create this collection, dedicated to Barbie. Barbie inspires the girls from the entire world to make fashion experiments. Working on this collection I want to come back to my childhood”, - Dasha comments. Her collections are always feminine, and this one is not an exception. The main colour is pink, following Barbie’s style, but decorated with black and white details and accessories.
During the “Dasha Gauser for Barbie” fashion show several little girls appeared on the catwalk demonstrating wonderful dresses. Among them were Katya Starshova, a young Russian film star acting in the TV series “Father’s daughters”, and Stephania Malikova, a daughter of Dmitry Malikov, the famous Russian singer and composer.
