Chapurin Fashion House presented its new prêt-a-porter collection spring-summer 2013. Igor Chapurin was inspired by the hippie philosophy and Woodstock festival as a symbol of the hippie movement.
In fact, contemporary culture was greatly influenced by the hippie philosophy. It is reflected in music, literature, cinema, and fashion. Woodstock festival is considered to be a symbol of the hippie movement, proclaiming emancipation and pacifism. Performances of Jimmi Hendricks, Jenis Joplin, The Who, Carlos Santana, Joan Baez and lavish parties affected a life style of a whole generation, when a country-side fair became a cultural phenomenon.
Igor Chapurin promotes this symbol of the art liberty in his Woodstock Spring-Summer 2013 collection. Firstly, it is reflected in the geometry of cuts: soft silhouettes of the cocktail dresses, voluminous sleeves in the blouses, mixture of natural shoulder lines and cozy skirts’ lengths, flowing evening gowns’ drapes, laconic jumpsuits and self-restrained brutality of leather shorts and skirts.
Secondly, Chapurin uses a rich mosaic of natural fabrics. These are silk, crepe de Chine, and opal leather.
Implementing the hippie style Chapurin makes colour a key emotional element of the Woodstock collection. Bright shades of pink and a palette of emerald eased where necessary by black and beige. Igor Chapurin uses printed fabrics of the hippie attributed geometrical ornaments.
The presentation of the fashion collection was held in Imperia Tower. After the show the guests enjoyed their discussion of Chapurin’s designs on the 30th floor of a skyscraper.
