After the debut show by Ulyana Sergeenko in Paris in July 2012 there has been no doubt that the global success of the designer is here to stay. However, the second show is always more difficult than the first one, in fact it is necessary to surpass oneself, to do something even more powerful, new, and fresh. Uliana managed to do it.
Ulyana Sergeenko is known in the West due to her inimitable bright style with a touch of Russian folklore and the talent of the designer. Ulyana Sergeenko couture show was held in the Marigny Theatre on January 22, 2013. There were many Moscow friends of the designer, among them was Ksenia Sobchak. Ksenia and Dita Von Teese were given the best places in the front row.
The collection presented by Uliana Sergeenko was not a debut: the designer already participated in the Fashion Week in Paris in the autumn of 2012. Then the star of the show was the Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova. This time there were no world stars of the podium, but this fact didn`t by any means affect the quality of the collection.
A girl dressed by Uliana Sergeenko is associated not so much with Tolstoy or Chekhov, but with O. Henry and Margaret Mitchell, or rather, the character from her book "Gone with the Wind" - Scarlett O'Hara. A lady in Sergeenko style is young, confident and endlessly elegant. Spending time on a remote rancho surrounded by horses, black maids and strong men, she dresses elegantly, but relaxed, prefers wicker straw to leather accessories and cotton batiste to expensive silk. Books are her only entertainment. These are the fairy-tales of Marshak and Chukovsky illustrated by the Soviet artist Yuri Vasnetsov who created the bright and unique fairy-tale world, a distant reminiscence of childhood. His drawings thanks to Ulyana turned into ironic embroidery in the form of pigs and foxes made in satin stitch and even of straw - a subtle hint to a serious sense of humor and lack of bourgeois complexes.
Dita Von Teese already wearing a dress from the current collection carefully chose a new look, and her emotions grew brighter with every new model. Natalia Vodianova, this time not a model, but a guest of the front row heard the enthusiastic comments of the editor of Harper's Bazaar Derek Blasberg proving the huge potential of Ulyana.
