The biannual exhibition «Fashion and style in photography» that takes place in Moscow was replenished by three exhibitions in the Multimedia Art Museum.
Two of them — «Lilya Brik. Abandoned travel» and photos of Pirelli calendar of this year — meet the visitors in museum foyer. The first one includes a little article from Lilya Brik’s extensive biography, the principal Russian femme fatale, director, Vladimir Mayakovsky’s muse and friend, immortalized in Aleksander Rodchenko’s shots. At the behest of the beloved Mayakovsky buys Renault NN2, a four-seater sedan, at the cost of 20 thousand francs in Paris for the play «Bug» fee. In January of the 1929 the car arrives to Moscow, Brick becomes one of the first motorists in the capital and in June she announces a motor race. Her friend and admirer Aleksander Rodchenko shots Lilya at the beginning of the race. The way of 20 versts from Moscow with Lilya’s photos in automobile suits posing on a service station and in the car; the photos of Rodchenko, that inflates tyres, and other memorable shots became the episode, which they called «Abandoned travel».
Another amusing trip is to Brazilian Rio and Steve McCurry’s shots, World Press Photo laureate, made for the famous calendar Pirelli. Almost everything in this calendar issue is amazing. It became an object of collecting from the first issue in 1964. Beginning with selecting of photos (for the first time till the 1960-s the person who made the selection became a press photographer) and the models (instead of usual artistic nude — a pregnant top-model Adriana Lima and a Brazilian actress Sonya Braga, that three years ago celebrated the 60-s birthday) to the dominating in charitable themes subscriptions. «The physical beauty is important, but apart from this, it’s important to know what motivates people. We were shooting in the streets, and there are there usual people in the calendar: sellers, a paintress, dancers… It’s important, it’s life», — McCurry says.
The third exhibition, the most impressive and dimensioned, occupied the whole second floor of the museum. Here are self-portraits and several suits from the performances and art-projects of legendary Verushka, the model, that in the 1960—1970-s changed stage and cover fashion industry canons. 50 different images, made by Vera von Lehndorff from herself, — from a catwoman, a zebrawoman, a punk and many Monro-Dietrich-Garbo till an extraterrestrial and the first dark-skinned USA president (1994 year!) — are a part of Moscow Multimedia Art Museum exposition.
