Social Fashion
October 24, 2015 23:09

As a part of its business program the MBFW Russia saw a press conference with Bezgraniz Couture on social issues. The founder of Bezgraniz Couture, Yanina Urusova, as well as Maria Morozova, director of Passenger vehicles sales department at ZAO Mercedes-Benz Russia, with Anna Chernykh, head of the 'Fashion Design. Basic Course' program at British Higher School of Art and Design and her co-curator Vladimir Tilinin, and Jurgen Ulrich, CEO at Burda Publishing House attended the press conference. The speakers highlighted the fact that they consider their product not so much as a social one but a technologically feasible one: their main goal is to help people with disabilities to be stylish and have an opportunity to wear comfortable clothes that would not limit their movements. Moreover, another goal of the project is to create and unify mass production of designer clothes that would take into account the specific needs of mobility challenged people.

As the initiative is not a charity project, it is implied that there will be some investors invited and the production will be launched globally. The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia has become the first Fashion Week to invite handicapped people to the runway shows – the third day of the Fashion Week opened with the WearABLE Future show organized by Bezgraniz Couture.

Apart from providing details of the creation of a new line-up of clothes for the people with disabilities the press conference featured an announcement of the world's first ever study on the purchasing power of such category of people.
