Mercedes-Benz Fashion Day St. Petersburg x SHOWROOM #35 took place on October 27 and October 28, 2015 at Corinthia Hotel St. Petersburg. The event was organized with the support of the St. Petersburg Committee for Entrepreneurship and Consumer Market Development and the Center for Business Development and Support.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Day St. Petersburg was organized in collaboration with SHOWROOM #35, a unique platform for young designers from St. Petersburg, where they can demonstrate their collections to potential customers and manufacturers. The collective runway show of the Showroom 35 project members opened with the demonstration of kids wear. The looks by Leya.me are full of energy, fun and joy: bright sarafan summer dresses, stylish coats and checked jackets, an elegant red hat – the designers of the brand play with a certain children’s story, its characters and events in every collection. Mania Fedia brand collection featured soft hues and smooth silhouettes: milk-colored dresses and lollipop sarafan summer dresses for girls and light traditional Russian embroidered shirts for boys complemented each other perfectly. Showroom 35 collective show continued with Initials overwear collection. It included models with fur pockets, simple bulky silhouettes, and classic straight lines. The color range was varied: rich bordeaux, dark blue, black, creamy, etc. Renata Kikhler closed the day’s collective runway show, swing dresses with unusual draperies combining several textures and colors, suits with flowing skirts, and blouses with flowery prints.

ZIMA Fur House showcased a diversity of looks for the cold season: unusual ink-colored, ruby, and golden fur coats, some of which were like mosaic, multicolored, textured, and patterned. Soldatova Natalia Fashion House closed the first day of shows. The collection featured black dresses with unusual blue flower-shaped embroideries, maxi skirts in hues of grey with basques, light dresses with flowery prints, and a lot more. The whole show was accompanied by live music.

The Chairperson of the St. Petersburg Committee for Entrepreneurship and Consumer Market Development notes that this year the Government gives special attention to clothing and textile industries. “We provide active support to light industry projects in St. Petersburg. Today’s event is an excellent continuation of the previous work. We need to expand and adopt a larger scale: we can see that many people are interested in our designers, which confirms that we are on the right track,” said Elgiz Kachaev.

Next day the SHOWROOM 35 hosted a workshop of a famous street style photographer Adam Katz Sinding. Adam explained what street style was and how it influenced today’s fashion industry, and also how to find oneself in the photographs, how he chose what to capture and why it was important for him that the model should not know that he or she is being photographed. Adam Katz Sinding is a fashion-photographer of international scale who travels the world and makes street style photographs for Fashion Weeks and for the W Magazine. Also, Adam runs a personal website le21eme.com, the Best Street Style Blog-2015 according to Bloglovin’.

SHOWROOM #35 project members KOGEL Fashion House and Korsakov Atelier opened the second day. Black-and-white dresses and light blouses with heart-shaped prints, combined with white or black maxi skirts, voluminous black dresses with lips-shaped applications: the whole KOGEL Fashion House collection is about love and affection. The next show was by Korsakov Atelier, a family-run custom tailoring atelier. The designer demonstrated classic suits as well as unusual and bright looks: wide-striped black-and-white jackets, checked suits and coats with multicolored lapels.

The magnificent closing of the event was the runway show by the Russian fashion guru SLAVA ZAITSEV. The artist and designer’s career goes back half a century. In St. Petersburg, Zaitsev demonstrated a collection of diverse dresses and suits made of exquisite fabrics. The collection featured flowing silhouettes, sharp lines, meticulously elaborated details along with ornamental, geometric and graphic patterns: apparently, the legendary designer decided to explore every possible option.
