Russia has become a true fashion powerhouse supporting emerging talents and creating a global profile for Moscow as a fashion capital. The organizers of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia hold the passion to make it the largest in Russia and CIS, as well as the most innovative and entertaining. No wonder, it has become one of the most talked about fashion events in Russia, drawing attention from fashionistas and influencers the world over.
Catwalk shows brought us a clear view of everything we’ll be wearing next spring-summer season. Scroll through for the main trends, introduced by Russian designers, predicting super-sized voluminous dresses, vampy corsets, babushka scarves, and many more. Welcome to what's next.
1. Puffed Sleeves
Next spring-summer trends are all about being extra. Statement sleeves are not an exception, and will be an extension of the common ruffle-detailing trend. Check the princess-like puff sleeves by Speranza Couture, Zaid Nakad and Humariff, and more feminist and strong shoulder options offered by Pirosmani and Expats Collective.

Legenda proves that shiny looks can be worn for any occasion and season. Shimmery gowns by Arut MSCW will set the tone for Moscow fashionistas.

3. Omnipresent Fringe
The spring-summer 2020 mandate is fringe – find it everywhere: skirts, dresses, trenches, and even knee socks by Linus Leonardsson or hats by Olga Chernoschekova for bold fashion lovers.

4. See-Through Fabrics
Sheer fabrics went through a magic transformation from being a mere seasonal accent into an ever green fashion trend. They are fragile and delicate. And next season they are not only feminine – Odor added this trend to males looks.

5. Babushka Scarves
Babushka’s headgear is widely adopted in the next spring season, and not only for churchgoers. Try tying a silk scarf under your chin in an elegant way just for a day-to-day look as many street stylers already do. The leather one by BHSAD BA (Hons) Fashion is just matching all trends.

7. Total Leather
Leather is no longer reserved for fall and winter. Total leather is just what we need for the Russian spring, as the weather here rarely surprises locals with warm days. While Arut MSCW chooses black, Bakhtin encourages to get colourful.

8. Corsetry
The last season’s “Renaissance” trend continues and brings corsets onto the streets. Satin-draped or sheer close-fitting bustier bodices, and even more cinched styles were created to make you feel vampy next summer. Asadullina and Bakhtin just nailed it.

9. Transparent Gloves
The trend for transparency has come to… gloves. But we are no longer talking about “chic” plastic. The trend for Spring 2020 is sheer organza, silky or lace gloves richly decorated with embroideries and crystals.
