The National Fashion Chamber, together with partners and designers participating in the Fashion Week, decided not to hold Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia this season, which was planned in the Moscow Manege from March 31 to April 4, 2020.

For the last month, employees of the National Chamber of fashion analyzed the situation with the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19 on a daily basis, consulted with specialists of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare and Health, developing a set of preventive measures for a future event. Nevertheless, based on current data on the nature and speed of the spread of the virus, the only sure way to eliminate the potential threat in this case is to cancel the shows, so as not to expose the participants and guests of the event to even minimal risk.



“We, our partners and participants feel great responsibility because we are doing a major event: more than 1,500 people are involved in the production of #MBFWRussia - designers, make-up artists, hairdressers, models, employees, etc., not counting journalists, bloggers and guests of shows. This was a difficult decision, given how much effort and resources have already been invested in the preparation of shows by fashion houses, and by us, but it had no alternative, because we are talking about the health of colleagues, guests and participants. Until the last moment, we considered the issue of shifting Fashion Week to later dates, but in the current conditions it is impossible to predict the development of the situation with coronavirus, so we transfer all activities of this season to online, that is contactless and safe,” the President of the National Fashion Chamber Alexander Shumsky says.



The National Fashion Chamber and the Fashion Fund will hold a series of online events in April – May 2020 to support Russian designers and showcase their new collections prepared for the catwalk. The 40th season of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia will be held in a virtual format on the platform Aizel.ru - the leading Russian online store of designer clothes.
