Investigators filed a charge against the fifth person arrested for the murder of the opposition leader Boris Nemtsov - Shagit Gubashev. This was reported by RIA Novosti with the reference to the lawyer Ilya Trofimov.

“He was presented with a charge, but I cannot say anything else, since I’ve signed an agreement on non-disclosure of the secrecy of investigation” - the lawyer noted. Earlier Gubashev said he did not plead guilty. On March 16 formal charges were brought against Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, Khamzat Bakhaev, while Zaur Dadaev and Anzor Gubashev were charged already on March 8.

All of detainees are charged with the article 105 part 2, paragraphs “” and “” of the Criminal Code (“The crime committed by a group of persons by prior agreement or an organized group based because of political, ideological, racial, ethnic or religious hatred”).On March 8 the Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested five people suspected of murdering the politician Boris Nemtsov: Zaur Dadaev, Anzor Gubashev, Shagit Gubashev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Khamzat Bakhaev. They will stay in custody until April 28. All defendants in the case have already appealed against their arrest.

The 55-year-old Boris Nemtsov was killed in the centre of Moscow on the night of February 28. Unknown persons riding in a white car shot him in the back at least six times while he was walking through Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge with his friend. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case by the articles “Murder” and “Illegal arms trafficking”. The investigation is considering several versions of the event. In particular, the murder could be a provocation for destabilization of the political situation in Russia. The “version associated with the Islamic extremist trace” is also considered: Nemtsov “was threatened in connection with his position regarding the shooting of the journalists of the magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris”. In addition, the crime could be related to the inner conflict in Ukraine, as well as commercial activities of Nemtsov or someone’s personal dislike towards him.
