May 20, 2015 16:55

The investigation team for the case of murder of the politician Boris Nemtsov was headed by a new leader.
This was reported by RIA Novosti with the reference to the lawyer of one of the defendants Shamsudin Tsakaev. It is known that earlier the new Head of the investigative team was involved in the case of the murder of the State Duma deputy Ruslan Yamadayev. “Now the investigation team is headed by the investigator Nikolai Tutevich” – the agency quotes Tsakaev’s words. The previous investigator of the murder of the politician Igor Krasnov previously investigated the case of the murder of the lawyer Stanislav Markelov and the journalist Anastasia Baburova, as well as the attempted murder of Anatoly Chubais. Nikolai Tutevich was involved into the investigation of the murder of the State Duma deputy Ruslan Yamadayev that happened near the White House. The witness in the case of the murder of Yamadayev was the senator from Chechnya Suleiman Geremeev, according to “Mediazona”. According to “Interfax”, the relative of Suleiman Geremeev Ruslan Geremeev became a suspect in the case of the murder of Nemtsov.

Igor Krasnov who was involved into the investigation of the case of the murder of the politician Boris Nemtsov will head the new structure of the Investigative Committee. It is created out of the investigators who have general ranks, as RBC wrote on Friday, May 15. As the lawyer of Zaur Dadaev, Ivan Gerasimov, being the main accused of the murder of the politician, told to RBC, Krasnov will deal with organizational and administrative work. He will not be directly investigating cases. The lawyer added that the new structure will be subordinate to the Head of the Investigative Committee Aleksandr Bastrykin. As he added, the proposed changes in the committee have been known for a long time. The source of RBC in the Investigative Committee confirmed this information. A lawyer Vadim Prokhorov representing the interests of Nemtsov family said that the Krasnov was appointed the Acting Head of the new Directorate for Particularly Important Cases.

The fact that the investigation team on the murder of the politician Boris Nemtsov was headed by the new leader became known earlier on May 15. The new Head is Nikolai Tutevich who was involved into the case of the murder of the State Duma deputy Ruslan Yamadayev. It is noted that the investigation did not manage to find the contractors. The assassin was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2010.

The 55-year-old Boris Nemtsov was killed in the centre of Moscow on the night of February 28. Unknown persons riding in a white car shot him in the back at least six times while he was walking through Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge with his friend. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case by the articles “Murder” and “Illegal arms trafficking”. The investigation is considering several versions of the event. In particular, the murder could be a provocation for destabilization of the political situation in Russia. The “version associated with the Islamic extremist trace” is also considered: Nemtsov “was threatened in connection with his position regarding the shooting of the journalists of the magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris”. In addition, the crime could be related to the inner conflict in Ukraine, as well as commercial activities of Nemtsov or someone’s personal dislike towards him.
