Navalny told about the course of primaries.
“These will be open primaries. They will be partially held online, partially offline. We will connect such well-known and respected organizations as “Golos” and “Sonar”. “Open Russia” of Mikhail Khodorkovsky wants to make a separate project of monitoring the primaries” - Navalny reported.
According to him, the primaries will have an absolutely transparent voting. There will be open polling stations in Novosibirsk, Kostroma and Kaluga regions where any citizen can come to show a passport and vote for the candidates. “Almost everyone will be able to participate in the elections to the Coordinating Council of the opposition. Everyone who supports the declaration of the democratic coalition and who signed it may participate.
The members of the “United Russia”, of course, cannot be admitted to the elections. But anyone without bad intentions will be admitted. From this point of view, these elections are the most honest”- the politician said. Navalny also noted that the call of the candidates for the primaries was announced a week earlier.
“There are already some candidates. We are very satisfied that the list of these people includes some persons whom we did not know before. For example, some successful local entrepreneurs, like in Novosibirsk Oblast. Some of them have publicly written about their participation in social networks. We are satisfied with the way the registration goes. There are people – there will be plenty of them to choose from. It is a key point in these elections” – Navalny added.
The democratic coalition will participate in the elections to the legislative assemblies in Novosibirsk, Kostroma and Kaluga regions on September 13. The public primaries will help to form a list of candidates consisting of regional politicians, civil society activists and “public opinion leaders”. The primaries will begin after the May holidays, the votes will take place in mid-June. The coalition will also support the candidates in single-mandate constituencies in the elections to legislative assemblies.
