The average size of bribes has reached 613,000 roubles, or 9.44 thousand dollars, which is three times more than in last year. This was reported by the Chairman of the Association of Russian Lawyers for Human Rights Marina Bast, according to “Interfax”.
The indices were calculated on the basis of complaints of citizens received by the All-Russian Anti-Corruption Counseling Office “Clean Hands” in the period from September 1, 2014 to August 31, 2015.
“The amount of bribes for the last reporting period (from 2013 to 2014) amounted to 218.4 thousand roubles or 5.6 thousand dollars” – the Head of the Association said. Following the report of the organization, the majority of citizens (61 per cent) complain about bribery in the judicial authorities.
For example, the average size of bribes for adjudication on criminal cases grew to three million roubles, and for civil cases it remained the same - 650 thousand roubles. The second place belongs to the agencies of internal affairs – the corruption among the “men in uniform” makes 39.3 percent of citizens fell indignant.
An award to the representatives of the Interior Ministry makes up an average of five thousand roubles. And the refusal of the police to initiate criminal proceedings, according to Bast, is worth no less than 500 thousand roubles. The Association of Lawyers notes a significant increase in complaints for the Prosecutor’s Office - 33 percent.
The number of complaints for the Investigative Committee, on the contrary, was smaller - 11.2 percent. Bribery among government officials is still at a high level - 12.5 percent of the total number of complaints.
