8071 candidates will be nominated for the election of deputies of the State Duma from 20 parties. Such information was voiced on Wednesday, August 3, by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova at the commission meeting, according to “Interfax”.
There are a total of 450 seats in the lower house of the Russian parliament. Thus, according to the estimates of “Lenta.ru”, the competition in the State Duma should amount to approximately 17.9 people per place. According to the Chairman of CEC, 3970 people from 13 parties who have been nominated for the election to the State Duma are currently registered. “This election campaign is attended by 49 political parties and five public organizations”- the Head of CEC noted, adding that 74 political parties had such a right. Pamfilova added that a total of 99,600 candidates were nominated in the current election campaign, 48.3 thousand people of them were registered.
Thus, nearly 67 thousand candidates are nominated for the elections to local self-government bodies, 24.5 thousand – to legislative governmental bodies, 41 people - to the posts of heads of subjects. Pamfilova recalled that the deadline for the registration of candidates in single-mandate constituencies and party federal lists ended on August 3 at 6 p.m., as TASS reported. By August 14 the commission will have checked the documents and take a decision on registration or refusal of registration, as the Chairman of the Central Election Commission explained.
