The Russian Government Regularly Monitors Large Offshore Withdrawals
May 6, 2018 11:19

Russian officials, as well as ordinary Russians, have been involved in withdrawing funds and conducting doubtful transactions for several billion roubles.

As the Head of the Federal Service for Financial Monitoring Yurii Chikhanchin explained, the money was withdrawn to offshore companies. According to the Head of the supervisory authority, the government regularly monitors large “offshore withdrawals”. “The Federal Service for Financial Monitoring constantly analyzes the materials of mass media, such as “Panama Papers”, “Paradise Papers”, “English Papers”. The analysis of this information showed that thousands of foreign companies listed in the Papers are controlled by Russian citizens,” Chikhachin told.

The Head of the Federal Service for Financial Monitoring admitted that the participants of dubious transactions involved public officials, including governors, deputies and even heads of executive bodies of different levels. Chikhanchin did not reveal any specific names, but noted that all information was transferred to law enforcement authorities.
