September 15, 2013 Moscow will be hosting the first genuine city marathon. 42 kilometers and 195 meters through the city and together with the whole city.
The marathon is not made up of only kilometers that you need to run from start to finish line. Marathon is a solid history in which every runner who crosses the finish line is a winner. To run this classic distance in Moscow is a rare chance to become a part of the unique history of marathon movement.
Moscow is one of the world’s largest cities and Moscow Marathon has the potential to become another world-famous race. But in 2013 it will be run for the first time. Nobody has run this route yet, which means that not only the one who reached finish line faster than others is the best. All participants will be the winners.
The route of Moscow Marathon will lie over embankments, main streets, Garden and Boulevard Rings. The race will start from Luzhniki Sports Complex once built for the Olympic Games. Final meters will come to an end at Olympic Stadium of Grand Sports Arena of the Luzhniki. Again, this part of the route is unique in its own way. The next year Luzhniki will be reconstructed and Moscow Marathon will be the last significant sporting event to be held on its territory.
The fact that all comers can join the Moscow Marathon makes it special – this is a tribute and farewell to the part of Moscow sports history.
Participants can register on www.moscowmarathon.org till September 8, 2013.
