The creators of the Sochi 2014 Olympics logo were given simple and at the same time incredibly difficult task – to display in a small logo the modern generation of Russia.

On December 1, 2009 the world community saw the official emblem of the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014. It is based on mirroring «SOCHI» and "2014" elements, which symbolize the unique location of the city, where the snowy peaks of Caucasus Mountains reflect in Black Sea waters. The ‘.ru’ prefix demonstrates that Sochi Olympics is the pride of the whole country. The emblem is framed with rings, the symbol of the world Olympic movement. Sochi 2014 Paralympic Games emblem was officially introduced on December 12, 2009. The specific distinction of the emblem is a red, green and blue hemisphere – the Paralympic Movement symbol.
 

Members of Sochi 2014 Olympic Games Organizing Committee pondered quite a long time on what will be the motto of Sochi 2014. However, after the decision was taken, 2014 Olympics slogan somewhat shocked the public. The thing is that Sochi-2014 motto "Hot. Cool. Yours" was perceived negatively by almost 70% of Russians. Whereas Organizing Committee, in turn, has noted that the first part of the slogan, which is considered "dynamic", provides an excellent opportunity to create a vast number of options of individual slogans in almost any advertising campaign around the Olympic project. According to them, 2014 Olympics slogan was the best choice because the next part of it stays steady. As regards the word "Yours.", which completes the 2014 Olympics slogan, it symbolizes personal involvement and shorter distances to the events that at times are so far. Points that are placed after each word have also not gone unnoticed. Their presence is a kind of parallel with the high technologies and with the emblem of Sochi Winter Olympics.
