Gorky Park in Moscow is one of the main places of attraction in the city. Thousands of people visit it every day to relax, have fun and learn something new and interesting. This year the park has been reconstructed in order to look more like a modern place of interest for citizens and tourists. Today we've prepared for you 17 valid reasons to spend a couple of days in the best park in Moscow.
Painting Lessons
- every Wednesday at 19:00, on the central line of the Gorky Park, experienced teachers will teach you to paint in different styles, to understand fundaments of the painting technique and to learn something new about world art. The lessons' organizers will supply you with all necessary materials for work.
Yoga - every day you can visit the Olivkovy beach at the Gorky Park and take part in one of the numerous yoga lessons - introduction, intensive practices, children yoga, lectures and seminars about yoga and a healthy way of life, and even yoga lessons for English speakers. Every Tuesday and Saturday there are free lessons for everybody. Price for the other lessons is 360 rubles ($11).
Dances - It's not hard to dance once you get your feet wet. Now it is very easy to make the first steps in dancing with a help of the best instructors. Every day at 19:00 you can learn how to dance flamenko, salsa, swing, tango, street dance and many other modern dances. The location is a dance stage on the central line of the Gorky Park.
Bicycles, skateboards and roller skaters - all the popular devices for comfort rolling can be hired in the park, which itself has become the huge rolling ground. There are also a rollers school for novices and a skatepark equipped with special devices for making effective tricks. Bikeways are everywhere.
Oratory Lessons - These lessons will help you to improve your communication skills and to become a confident and professional speaker. Every Wednesday at 19:30 and every Sunday at 12:00.
Aerotube - the coolest way to fly in Moscow this summer, just you and the wind. Check out the place right behind the skatepark, and be ready to spend 1900 rubles ($59) for 2 minutes and 2500 rubles ($78) for 3 minutes. Don't forget you mustn't have any serious health problems.

Mini-zoo. It is very funny to watch how common urban children (and also some adults) are amazed to see sheeps, lambs, cocks, rabbits and other farm animals. Don't hesitate to visit the small mini-zoo, it is truly the cutest place in the park.
An open-air cinema "Pioneer" - The first summer cinema in Moscow has started its work in the Gorky Park. Its program includes the latest blockbusters, festival films and an immortall classics. The cinema's organizers are ready to supply you with blankets, raincoats, pillows and rug if the weather is not very good. Tickets price is 300-400 rubles ($9-12.5) depending on a hour.
Centre of the Modern Culture "Garage" - an international non-commercial organization which aims to develop and popularize the modern culture. The Centre organizes exhibitions and different educational events: lectures, seminars, practical classes. You can visit "Garage" like a typical museum, expositions change every week.
Green School - is a unique place for children which helps them to learn about the surrounding world and its rules. In fact, this is a country house with vegetable garden, flower beds, animals and playgrounds. All children can visit the School every day since 10:00 till 18:00 and to take part in different events, to play games, to look after the garden and to learn something new about botany and biology.
"The Creative Approach" - this project is a series of free lectures for all comers dedicated to different parts of our life. Every Tuesday, at 19:00, an open-air cinema "Pioneer".
The "Babymama" club - a new educational project for expectant mothers and women with children aged 0-2 years. Within the framework of the project a special playpen has been built for children (to the left of the central line, near the "Naves" of A. Brodsky) to play freely while their mother discuss important subjects about pregnancy and maternity. Trained lectures can answer any difficult and sensitive question.
PING PONG MOSCOW OPEN X - an open Moscow championship for all ping-pong lovers takes place on July 10-September 10 in the Neskuchny Garden (a green area near the Gorky Park). The tournament is for amateurs only, so don't hesitate to join it every time you like. An entrance fee is 300 rubles ($9).
Panda-Park - the first string adventure park has been opened this summer in Moscow's Gorky Park. Its main feature is several routes of different difficulty made of strings and beams and placed at some height from the ground. Both children and adults can pass these routes and find themselves the real adventurers. All constructions are made by professionals, so they are completely safe. All the visitors are supplied with a safety equipment.
Nordic Walking is the best decision for activity holidays fans. Nordic walking is a race walking with modified ski poles, which helps to increase heart strength and to keep your body in tone. Special trainings take place on weekdays at 18:00 and 20:00, and on Saturday and Sunday at 12:00 and 14:00. The duration is 60 minutes. You cah hire ski poles in the park.
Runners Club - the great choice for those who prefers traditional sport activities, like jogging. The Gorky Parky has prepared the most beautiful running paths and a well-developed infrastructure of locker rooms, shower cubicles, cafes and drinking fountain. Come to the Pushkinskaya embankment to join a good company of jogging fans led by professional trainers. Find the "Sports Pavilion" on the Gorky Park's map. The trainings start every day at 20:00 on weekdays and at 12:00 on Saturday and Sunday.
