Mass open-air celebrations, concerts, shows, entertainment for every taste, a great variety of gifts, and competitions in winter sports await the guests and citizens of Yekaterinburg at the Christmas fairs. The city pleases everyone with many New Year's surprises.

"Christmas-tree! Joy! Gifts!"

Address: Expo Boulevard, 2

On the 17th of December the largest skating-rink opened in Yekaterinburg. It`s the largest  one not only in Russia but also in Europe, and it is free for everybody. The skating-rink is located near the exhibition centre "Yekaterinburg-Expo" (Expo Boulevard, 2). A huge beautiful Christmas-tree is already pleasing the guests, and on the facade of the Centre the largest display in the city is installed. It broadcasts music videos, cartoons, Christmas entertainment programs. At the same area of the region's largest exhibition centre of international class "Yekaterinburg-Expo" a holiday city is open – this is Christmas Fair called "Christmas-tree! Joy! Gifts!". The area over 1,500 square meters of the Fair is occupied by the trading stalls. Inside the Expo it is very warm and cozy, despite the huge area. A large variety of goods are sold here: food, clothes, Christmas decorations, sports and children's products, jewelry, home furnishings and gifts for every taste. The sale of real Christmas-trees and pines has already begun. For children there are trampolines, amusement rides, carousels, etc. Father Frost sits in a large white globe, children can come to him, sit on his lap and talk to him about what gifts they want to receive for the New Year. From 17 December to 15 January a free "New Year performance" for children will be shown three times a day in the pavilion ¹ 4. The doors of the exhibition centre will be open not only during the day but also at night, however only three times: on the New Year`s day, on Christmas Eve on the Old New Year`s day.

German Christmas Fair

Address: Proletarskaya street, 6

What real Christmas cannot do without? Of course, without a Christmas fair, without warming aroma of mulled wine and without St. Nikolaus who brings long-awaited gifts. From 6 to 9 December, German Christmas market is held in Yekaterinburg for the second time. Guests will meet St. Nikolaus (German counterpart of Father Frost), hear traditional Christmas music and, of course, visit the Fair where everyone will be able to purchase the gifts for their friends and family. For younger visitors a special program called "German Christmas for the children” has been prepared. The kids will find out why the Advent calendar has 24 small windows, why all German children put polished shoes outside the door on the night of December, 6, and some other secrets.
