This year the residents of Moscow will be able to visit nine foreign and more than thirty Russian cities without leaving Moscow! A total of 35 fairs will open in the city. Each of them will embody the traditions, culture and spirit of the represented countries and cities.
There will be several hundred wooden houses in the frosty air scented with candied fruits, roasted chestnuts, bakery and mulled wine. Going on a trip to Christmas Moscow the guests of the city can indulge themselves and find the answers to the eternal questions: what presents to choose for the New Year, how to surprise their dearest one, what to do during the New Year’s holidays. Fairs in Moscow will also create happy Christmas mood. More than 270 wooden chalets will offer delicious treats, souvenirs, Christmas tree decorations, spice cakes, unique author goods, Christmas sweets, treats for the table, holiday linen, glasses, decorations for home, a variety of toys for children and other traditional goods for every taste.
The fairs will involve numerous master classes for adults and children, many of these will be held by the craftspersons who specially arrived in Moscow for this purpose from the Russian cities, as well as from Strasbourg, Prague, Vienna, Brussels, Copenhagen! The participants of these fairs come from 9 European countries: France, Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Latvia, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, and more than 30 cities of Russia: Gzhel, Torzhok, Yaroslavl, Kirov, Tver, Vladimir, Orenburg, Elets, Tula, Voronezh, Pavlov Posad, Velikiy Ustyug, Kostroma, Nizhny Novgorod, Yakutsk, Moscow, Ekaterinburg and others.
The European Fair brings together 7 European countries: France, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Switzerland, Latvia. Each of them is presented in a separate chalet and shares its Christmas traditions embodied in authentic goods, sweets and delicacies. One will enjoy a rich entertainment programme including the shows of the Brussels Museum of Chocolate and Cocoa, evenings dedicated to Hans Christian Andersen, you will be able to master the art of decoupage with French masters, the art of weaving of Christmas “wreaths of hospitality” for the doors, to cook confitures in a French way, to cut out cards of paper and carved modules with the Danish designer, to decorate gift bags and to acquire many other skills.
The main pride of the Fair is the House-Museum of Menelaus. It attracts people with its spicy flavour. The attendant of the house opens its doors to everyone willing to get acquainted with the everyday life of a gingerbread man. The goods from Riga include: popular sweets “Skriveru cows” and other sweets, traditional cookies “piparkukas” and gingerbread houses, handmade soap with the addition of goat's milk, handmade chocolate creations made of a variety of carefully selected ingredients, as well as the Latvian flax.
