Fresh Ideas for Moscow Winter

No doubt, there are many kinds of winter activities in Moscow, like skating, skiing, walking in the parks and enjoying Christmas fairs. But if you have tried everything,  here we have a list of some fresh ideas - a selection of unusual winter fun.

1. Winter swimming in the “Chaika” pool

The Chaika swimming pool is operating in Moscow for more than 60 years - it was opened in 1957. In 1980, during the Olympic Games in Moscow,  swimming competitions were held in Chaika. The famous outdoor pool Chaika works year-round. The water is heated, so it is unlikely that you will get cold and sick.

Cost of visit: “All inclusive. Full day" - 2 000 rubles, "All inclusive. 2 hours" - 1 000 rubles.

2. Curling in the Alpine Ice Sports Palace

If you are one of those who still can't find any difference between curling and washing floors, then it's time to educate and train yourself, as  this sport is already included in the Olympic program. The Alpine Ice Sports Palace has a curling section, where adults and children are welcome.

Cost of visit: children: 180–270 rubles, adults: - 230–390 rubles.

3. Epiphany bathing


About 53 parks in Moscow take part in organizing epiphany bathing. Despite the fact that bathing on Epiphany night is an old tradition, not all Muscovites decided to do this at least once in their life. For the most courageous, here are some places where you can do this:
- Upper Tsaritsynsky pond,
- Vorontsovskiy pond,
- Khimki reservoir,
- Font in Revolution Square, etc.

Cost of attendance: free of charge.

4. Riding a winter banana

In order to ride a banana in winter, it is not necessary to take a plane ticket and fly to some warm countries. Winter banana entertainment is organized in Kolomenskoye park.  It  is available for both children and adults.

Cost of attendance: 100 rubles - for children and 200 rubles  for adults for 10 minutes of riding.
