What to Do in Moscow During Winter: Skiing

The ideal opening of the ski season is supposed to be in Switzerland, Andorra or in the French Alps. But if you are travelling in Moscow, you can also enjoy mountain skiing here.
 
1. Ski center "Kant" (Nagornaya metro)

There are 17 tracks with a total length of 3,550 meters:  from 85 to 350 meters. There are also  89 tracks with sequential complication for those who only start learning. In addition to the ski slopes, there is a snowpark, a springboard and a cross-country ski run.

The cost of the visit: chairlift - from 30-50 rubles, skiing - 350 rubles on weekdays, 650 rubles on weekends.

2. Sports complex "Vorobyovy Gory (Sparrow Hills)"

"Sparrow Hills" is a unique sports complex that meets all international standards. The sports complex hosts Russian and international competitions, and is located in Moscow, not far from the metro. Two ski slopes of 230 meters each, a cross-country ski run, a snowboard park, a chair lift and a baby lift operate there. First of all, it is a professional center where real athletes and students of the Sparrow Hills sport school are trained. When the complex is free from training, it is open to all comers.

Cost of visit: equipment rental - a set of skis or a snowboard - 400 rubles per hour or 700 rubles per 2 hours; tubing rental - 300 rubles per hour; the cost of entry on weekdays is 100 rubles for children and 300 rubles for adults, on weekends it is 200 rubles for children and 400–500 rubles for adults.

3. Ski sport complex “Uzkoye” in Yasenevo

One of the longest slopes in the capital is located here. The complex is placed in the south-west of Moscow in front of the “Bitsevsky Forest”.  The   mountain is 200 meters long, with a height difference of 40 meters. Three tracks, snow park, two lifts, evening lights, snowcat operate here. There is also a sports school, rental and luggage storage. Besides, you can hire an instructor. First aid post is also available, as well as several cafes.

Cost of visit: rental - a skiing kit (skis, boots, poles) for 1 hour - 450 rubles, the whole day - 1700 rubles; a snowboard kit (snowboard, boots): 1 hour - 450 rubles, the whole day - 1700 rubles.

4. Ski resort Novo-Peredelkino

One of the largest ski resorts in Moscow.  You can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, freestyle all year round. In winter, there is a mogul track, a big air, a halfpipe, and a metal slide box. Novo-Peredelkino is also an ideal place for a family holiday with tubing, a school of instructors, renting equipment, and cafes.

Cost of visit: Chair lift from 30–50 rubles, 1 hour with instructor for 1 person - 950 rubles, for 2 people - 650 rubles.

5. Ski resort “Kurkino”


The winter center in the valley of the Skhodnya River is more than 30 years old; many people remember it since childhood. In general, the athletes of the RGS - Capital train here. But Kurkino is also a favorite place for family holidays. The slope is designed for people with different levels of training. Winter sports enthusiasts can take lessons with instructors.  Rental offices are also available here.

Cost of visit: rental – a skiing kit (skis, boots, poles) for 1 hour - 450 rubles, the whole day - 1700 rubles; a snowboard kit (snowboard, boots) 1 hour - 450 rubles, the whole day - 1700 rubles. Snowblades: 1 hour - 150 rubles, the whole day - 450 rubles. Ski passes: 1 lift - 30 rubles, the price changes depending on the number of lifts.
