Address: Landscape Park "Mitino" - Moscow, Novotushinsky passage
Metro station: Volokolamskaya

Landscape Park "Mitino" is one of the largest green areas in Moscow with a total area of 140 hectares. The park is distinguished by a large number of green zones, there are many natural, historical and archaeological sites. In "Mitino" people can relax in the bosom of nature or engage in various sports:  the park has many sports fields.

The territory of the park is the land of the ancient Slavs, where  people settled back in the 1st millennium BC. In addition to the river Baryshikha, there are two more reservoirs in Mitino - the Bolshoy and Maly Penyaginsky ponds. A big pond can be called a lake: its area reaches 6 hectares.

Large-scale archaeological work on the banks of the Baryshikha River began in the 1990s, when the burials of the ancient Slavs were found here. Scientists succeeded in obtaining the status of a historical and cultural site and prohibiting the construction of residential buildings on its territory.

In 2003, the park opened to visitors. All artifacts found during excavations in the park "Mitino" were sent to the State Historical Museum.

Big Penyaginsky pond

The name of this large reservoir is obliged to the village of Penyagino, which was once located not far from Moscow, and now became part of the Mitino district.

A pond with an area of 6 hectares is formed by the Baryshikha River, the reservoir has a complex structure, a large number of tributaries and reaches. The length of the pond from the mouth to the earthen dam on the river is 550 m.

The water in the Big Penyaginsky pond is clear and transparent. Water approaches are mainly grass and sandy, but there are also small groves that have grown along the coast.

The bottom of the pond in the 2000s was cleared of silt and covered with a thick layer of imported sand. Around the pond there is a meadow-parked territory with cut trees and bushes, paved with tiles, walkways, benches and lanterns.

The Big Penyaginsky pond is one of the best fishing places in Moscow. In 2015, a boat station was built on one of the banks of the reservoir, where you can rent a boat and take a trip along the blue surface of the reservoir.

Sports and entertainment areas

Park "Mitino" is perfect for lovers of sports and a healthy lifestyle. In many places, equipped with free exercise equipment, in the park you can do jogging, Nordic walking, swimming, table tennis, volleyball, etc. In winter, here is  a skating rink with an area of more than 4 thousand square meters.

Aquamarine Pool

There is a large pool "Aquamarine" with 25 lanes for swimming. Thanks to the modern water treatment system, the water in the pool is always perfectly clean, with a temperature of 28 degrees (approximately, as in the Black Sea resorts in August).

There are aqua aerobics, yoga and sport dance studios at the pool.

Architecturally, the church is designed in the tradition of northern wooden architecture. The multi-headed, multi-tiered church with a high bell tower fits perfectly into the surrounding natural-urban landscape. The building is completely made of wood.
