Dune Beach is the only nudist beach in St. Petersburg, which is located on the coast of the Gulf of Finland in the resort suburb of Sestroretsk near the mouth of the Malaya Sestra River.

The beach got its name thanks to the Dunes boarding house, which is located near the beach. But it acquired official status only in 1992. In addition, the only nudist beach in the Leningrad Region managed to leave its mark on world history, as it became one of the top 1000 beaches and vacation spots for nudists in the world and was published in the American catalog. Today, Dune Beach is again considered unofficial, and its territory is regularly subjected to various interventions. For example, recently, near the beach, the channel of the Malaya Sestra River began to be restored and the nudist beach fell under restructuring, which entailed a decrease in the area of the beach area.

The beach is covered with coarse sand, the entrance to the sea is gentle and similarly sandy. It is forbidden to swim here, as well as on many beaches of the Gulf of Finland, but this does not stop anyone - vacationers bathe here with pleasure. Due to possible strong waves, a long breakwater was made here.

It is believed that vacationers on the beach are divided into two types of people: nudists, who are exposed to get a beautiful tan, and naturists, for whom nudity is an approximation to nature. Absolutely different people come to the beach: men and women of different ages and physiques. In addition, there are many onlookers who come to see and sometimes express their opinion about nudism. The nudist beach of Dune is very popular among locals and residents of the entire region, the number of vacationers during the peak season is a huge number of people, up to a couple of thousand. Its popularity lies not only in the fact that it is one of the few nudist beaches, but also in the fact that it is well located and also has a clean beach area, where vacationers themselves maintain cleanliness.

Sea water temperature

Like many Russian beaches, the peak season on the Dune beach is in the summer months, when there are so many vacationers on the beach that sometimes you can’t find a place to stay.

The beach is washed by the waters of the Baltic Sea, and the average temperatures in the summer months reach the following levels:

in June: + 20.1 ° C;
in July: + 24.0 ° C;
in August: + 24.3 ° C.

In the days of the scorching sun and high air temperature, the water temperature can reach + 25 ° C.

Infrastructure

Despite the fact that the beach of Dunes has ceased to bear the official title, there are necessary conditions for a comfortable stay.

So,  the service includes:

Showers. Showers are located a little further from the beach, however they can be used if necessary. The only thing worth remembering is that you need to dress in a swimsuit or wrap yourself in a towel before going to the shower. Cafes and bars. There are cafes and bars near the beach, which is not surprising, since the beach is located within the city. When   going to the bar, you need to get dressed in the same way.

Children playground. Not far from the territory of Dune beach there is a children's playground with slides. Golf Club. Also near the beach, next to the sanatorium, there is a golf club. Open hours: 10:00 – 21.00.

Leisure

Dune Beach boasts its active life. Vacationers here find entertainment almost every day of the beach season. So, in addition to swimming and sunbathing, you can play beach volleyball, frisbee, badminton and on the hottest days, they organize dances and various competitions.
