Moscow River Cruise
July 20, 2011 12:40

River cruise is one of the best ways of learning more about architecture and history of the city. There are no traffic jams, no exhaust fumes, just comfort and convenience. From the ship board you will be able to take the most breath-taking pictures, to see the city in a new way, enjoy its panorama and pictiresque landscape. Moscow residents and foreigners started using this kind of transport-sightseeing sixty years ago, and it is still up-to-date.

The routes are rather various, so you won't get bored. In a whole, all Moscow river cruises can be divided in two directions: the central and the country ones.

The central one is the most popular kind of direction. Its route is planned in such way that it  gives you an opportunity to see all famous places of interest :

  • Moscow State University and Sparrow Hills
  • Gorkiy Central Park
  • Krimskiy Bridge
  • Christ Saviour Cathedral
  • the Kremlin
  • Highrise buildings of the Stalin epoch
  • Kievskiy railway station

If you want to go on a country trip, the places you're going to pass will be :

  • Coniferous Pine forest
  • Green Cape
  • Mikhalevo
  • Gorki
  • North River Station

There are two main moorings in Moscow :

  • the one is situated beside the metro station "Kievskaya"
  • another one can be found at Sparrow Hills

Apart from these moorings there exist a few additional city moorings such as Bagration Bridge, Novospasskiy Bridge, Maple Boulevard.

Duration of the cruise is about 30-40 minutes in central direction, 2-3 hours in the country direction. The most popular central cruises last 90 minutes and cost rather cheaply.

Speaking about the price, one needs to know that the average price for the river cruise is 400 rubles (14 dollars/10 euros) for adults, 150 rubles (4 dollars/3 euros) for children. If you want a whole-day trip, be ready to pay 800 rubles (28 dollars/20 euros). The service of the tour-guide will cost you 4000 rubles (142 dollars/100 euros). At the board ship you can easily find restaurants and cafes where you can have a drink and a meal. Cruises with meals included cost about 1300 rubles (53 dollars/38 euros).

The season of river cruises starts in April and finishes in October.
