Cruise Tours Along the Amur River
May 4, 2015 10:22

Yacht tourism may become the new brand of the Khabarovsk Region. Promising direction will allow to attract private investors and make the first step towards the organization of large cruise tours along the Amur River, IA AmurMedia reported at the press service of the Khabarovsk Krai administration.

The first international sailing regatta launched  a year ago with big success. As the head of the Department of Tourism and International Relations of the regional Ministry of Culture Anatoly Yeryomin said, the successful development of the Khabarovsk – Fuyuan route will open new opportunities for the development of trans-boundary river yacht tourism in the Khabarovsk Krai. The prospect of creating a tourist and recreational zone on the Big Ussuri Island adds relevance to this direction.

"We know that the state program for the development of tourism in the Khabarovsk Krai for 2013-2020 provides the organization of cruises along the Amur. But it is very difficult to attract investors to the building of large cruise ships due to the long payback period. Touring on yachts, i.e. vessels with the capacity of up to 18 people, at the moment is more than implementable: it can awake the interest of private investors easier. In addition, the yacht tourism can be a logical transition to the longer cruises," Anatoly Yeryomin said.

According to Yuri Chaika, the provincial government of Heilongjiang and Fuyuan County are also interested in the development of this type of tourism on the river of Amur. During their voyage regatta participants will hold talks with representatives of the Chinese side, where they will discuss the issues of cooperation in this direction. "It is expected that by the end of the regatta such visit to Khabarovsk will be performed by Chinese sailors as well. In the future, cross-border yacht tourism could be another recognizable brand of the Khabarovsk Krai," Yuri Chaika said.
