As in any other big city, you should be careful in Moscow to protect yourself from unpleasant situations. Here are some tips to follow.
1. Do not show everyone your valuables, the amount of money and cards in your wallet. Thieves often work in groups. Someone can distract you - and someone else (or a group of people) steals your valuables. Be careful and always watch your belongings, especially in public places.
2. Take with you exactly as much money as you need during the day. Leave valuables that you will not use this day in the hotel safe, it is much better than carrying them with you all the time.
3. In the metro, do not carry a backpack on your back, as you do not see what is happening behind. In the train, hold the backpack in front of you.
4. Do not wear a camera or other expensive items around your neck in the dark places. Someone can grab expensive equipment from the neck and run away. If you have a small camera, put it in your inner pocket. If it is large, put it in a small bag.
5. In cafes and restaurants, keep an eye on your bags, wallets, and phones. If you put the bag on the floor, or put the wallet in your jacket pocket and hang it on a chair, be careful not to lose sight of these things.
6. Keep your travel tickets and your wallet in different places. Since, if a theft does happen and you lose money, you will still have your tickets!
7. Going on a trip, issue a travel insurance certificate. It costs not so much and sometimes it helps.
8. Do not carry the original passport with you, it is better to leave it in the hotel safe. Make a copy, as a rule this is enough.
9. Try not to walk at night in dark places, especially if you walk alone.
We hope these small tips will help you to have a pleasent vacation in one of the most beautiful cities. Enjoy!
