Winter Season Opens in Moscow Parks

The winter season in Moscow parks starts on Friday.

This year, 38 ice rinks, 62 ski slopes, as well as 39 slides for sledging  and tubing will be available for Muscovites and tourists in recreational areas. 

Festivals, concerts and master classes will be held in the parks all winter. In addition, new sections will open in 12 urban recreation areas. For the first time, a section on snowboarding and jibbing will start operating in the Fili park.

In 15 Moscow parks you can learn the basics of figure skating, in 11 - learn how to play hockey. Three sections will be teaching curling. 



Two major ice rinks are also opening on Friday - at VDNKh and Gorky Park.

The VDNKh skating rink will again be located on the Central Alley - from Pavilion No. 1 Central to Pavilion No. 58 Agriculture. The area of ​​artificial ice cover is 20.5 thousand square meters. At the same time 4,500 people can skate there. 

A festive program has been prepared on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of VDNKh and the start of the winter season, inspired by the atmosphere of the New Year holidays from the 1950s to the present day, the press service of the country's main exhibition reports. It offers fun winter entertainment, a carnival with the participation of brass bands, dance flash mobs, aerialist shows and a massive ice skating race. 



The Voskhod skating rink in the avant-garde style will open in Gorky Park, which will run until March 9, 2020, the Moscow City Hall website reports. The area of ​​ice cover is about 20 thousand square meters.  

For the first time in the park, a two-story pavilion will be installed near the arch of the main entrance. On the ground floor of the facility with an area of ​​2 thousand square meters  there will be the rental point, and on the second - the food court area.
