The Booking.com service for reserving tourist accommodation has compiled a ranking of the most hospitable places in Russia and the whole world, based on traveler reviews on accommodation facilities.

The best facilities have received the Traveler Review Awards 2020, which is being awarded for the eighth time. Winners were determined based on the average user rating (at least 8 points out of 10) and the number of positive reviews. Prize-winning hotels received glass stickers.

The global ranking is headed by the ancient city of Göreme in Turkish Cappadocia that is famous for unusual rocks called “fairy chimneys”. This place is followed by the mountain town of Tatranska Lomnica in Slovakia and the Vietnamese Fongnya that is popular among tourists because of its unique system of underground caves. The top 5 includes the Slovenian town of Kobarid with rapid mountain rivers and the German Cochem famous for its historical architecture and vineyards. The list of the best places also included the settlements of Doolin (Ireland), Taitung (Taiwan), Schenna (Italy), Monti Verdi (Brazil) and Lake Tekapo (New Zealand).

The ranking of the most hospitable Russian destinations was headed by Suzdal, Peterhof and the Karelian city of Sortavala: they received the highest ratings from guests who visited these places.

Tourists also fell in love with Veliky Novgorod, Listvyanka village on Lake Baikal, Plyos, Lahdenpohja, Khuzhir village in Irkutsk Oblast, Nizhneye Dzhemete village in the Krasnodar Territory, as well as Pereslavl-Zalessky.

The majority of these are located in such countries as Italy (130 253), Spain (66 755), France (61 492), Germany (49 777), Croatia (42 763), USA (42 112), Great Britain (41 848), Poland (36,793), Russia (36,296) and Greece (33,259).
