Spa Resorts and Sanatoriums of Russia

A spa vacation is still perceived by a significant number of Russians and tourists as a standard of healthy and balanced leisure.  In recent decades, the developed base of the Soviet recreation complex has been successfully transferred to a new level of service standards close to global ones.    

The location of the main centers of spa holidays is very attractive: the coast of the Baltic Sea, the Moscow Region and Central Russia,as well as the Stavropol Territory and the Black Sea coast. There are many historical and natural attractions and a favorable climate there.

Sanatoriums of the North-West of Russia

Sanatoriums in the northwestern part of Russia are mostly located on the coast of the Gulf of Finland. Here,   the first resorts of Russia began to appear - one of them, the Karelian “Marcial Waters”, has been successfully operating to this day. Thanks to Peter the Great, the healing Polyustrovskie springs were discovered. Favorite resort places   of the representatives of the aristocracy of the 19th century - Terioki, Kuokkala, etc. - became major centers of spa holidays in Soviet Russia - Sestroretsk, Komarovo, Repino and Zelenogorsk.

Sanatorium "Sestroretsky resort" is known as a center for the treatment and prevention of heart disease, it uses mud and mineral water. Very popular among the elderly is the White Nights sanatorium.

The resort area of St. Petersburg is also a great place for a children's spa holiday.



Sanatoriums near Moscow

Very favorable conditions for recreation are offered by the sanatoriums of the Moscow Region and central Russia. It deals with the treatment and prevention of diseases of the cardiovascular and nervous systems, musculoskeletal system. The sanatoriums of the Moscow region and the European part of Russia are located among forests, fields and rivers relatively close to cities rich in sights, such as Moscow, Tver, Ryazan, Vladimir and Sergiev Posad, so you can diversify your visit with tours to ancient monasteries and temples, estates and memorial sites (Trinity Sergius Lavra, the Church of the Intercession on the Nerl, the Arkhangelskoye estate, the Pushkin Museum-Reserve Mikhailovskoye). It is no coincidence that the famous government sanatorium Barvikha is located in the Moscow Region.



Sanatoriums of Mineralnye Vody

Holidays in the Mineralnye Vody sanatoriums include romantic landscapes sung by Lermontov, the purest mountain air and more than a hundred varieties of healing mineral waters from underground wells. Kislovodsk, Essentuki, Pyatigorsk and Zheleznovodsk are recognized health centers of Russia.

Essentuki sanatoriums are known for their mineral water, which is especially useful in the treatment and prevention of diseases of the digestive system, and silt mud, which helps to cope with diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Sanatoriums of Pyatigorsk are multidisciplinary. In Kislovodsk, treatment with mineral waters is actively used, including the legendary Narzan. The mild climate of the Caucasian Mineral Waters, fresh air and plenty of sunshine helps to heal and restore strength at any time of the year.



Sanatoriums of the Black Sea coast

The Black Sea coast is one of the most favorable regions of Russia. The resorts of Sochi, Gelendzhik and Anapa have long attracted vacationers from all over Russia, even though holidays in the Krasnodar Territory are often more expensive than holidays in Turkey and the Crimea.



Anapa sanatoriums are chosen for the treatment and prevention of respiratory diseases and diseases of the ear, throat and nose, this resort is great for children and families. Gelendzhik sanatoriums specialize in climatotherapy and general health procedures, where balneology and mud therapy methods are applied. A significant number of sanatoriums of various profiles are located in Sochi and its environs.
