After a few warm almost snowless winters we are finally having one looking like winter. It means that skiing and skating is possible again. Skating is one of the traditional Russian winter outdoor activities. The rinks appear again in the yards for skating and playing hockey. These are like for the private use of the people living in neighboring houses. There are also public open rinks in the centre of Moscow, where there are rental stores, check-room and related services like skates grinding. I tell you about some of them.


The 28th Russian Antique Salon opens in the Russian capital on the February, 27, 2010 and will continue till the March, 7, 2010. This regular selling exhibition, taking place twice a year has already become a traditional rendezvous for the antique dealers and classic art enthusiasts from Russia and abroad. As usually, it takes place in the Central House of Artists, Krymsky Val Stret, 10. Instead of the economy crisis, the previous Antique Salon passed and the organizers hope the same happens this time.

The air show MAKS is an international air show, where not only the aircrafts but the weapon systems and space vehicles are demonstrated. Moreover, MAKS provides a special program for the businessmen and symposia and conferences as well. The air show takes place in the town of Zhukowski (Moscow Region), a capital of the Russian aeronautics, in the end of summer. In Russia they call these industrial tourists stalkers, but it is not absolutely correct. This direction of the historical reconstruction seems to be the most developed one in the country. There are three big festivals worth to mention and to visit in the first place, even when you are not enthusiastic in historical reconstruction.

Theres something romantic about stepping out alone on the stark Russian plains, or exploring the museums and famous city squares with no-one to tear you away.
