The excursion and tourist centre “Snow Village” is located in the Kirovsk micro-district Kukisvumchorr (“25th kilometer”) at the foot of the eponymous mountain, where the Ski Complex “Kukisvumchorr” is situated.
The village has been standing there - or rather, it is re-built each year – for only a few years, but it has already become one of the trademarks of Murmansk Oblast. Snow and ice are the main construction materials here. They are used for building labyrinths and halls, constructing furniture and fireplaces, carving ice sculptures and bas-reliefs. The mastermind of the project Vladimir Komyagin says that Snow Village is an echo of children’s fantasies, a magical ice house for adults.
Tourists come to a fairy tale. Every year, as soon as the snow falls, the team of “snow builders” invents the theme and begins to discuss a new plan. In the season of 2011-2012, for example, the design of the Snow Village was dedicated to different countries and continents: each room presented a new country, a world tour in the ice of the Kola Peninsula.
Details and clear layout are born already along the way. The big construction work usually ends by the end of December, and the object is closed in May for natural reasons.
The Snow Village accepts guests from late December to May. All guests of the Snow Village rent snowmobiles for themselves or ride them as passengers. There is a park of ice sculptures. Excursions with fantastic characters and sledging are organized for children. The guests of the Snow Village can cut their own sculptures from ice blocks.
In 2012 the Snow Village was listed in the Russian Book of Records as the largest building of snow and ice - 2014 square meters. It has good chances to be listed in the Guinness Book of Records. Working hours.
On weekdays, weekends and holidays the “Snow Village” is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Telephone: + 7-921-510-00-06+ 7-921-510-00-06
