January 24, 2020 17:46

The Devil's Gate natural canyon is located near the Khosta River, approximately 24 kilometers from the center of Sochi and 14 kilometers from Adler. In general, the south of Russia is replete with attractions, resorts, parks and reserves. Devil's Gate Canyon stands out among natural sites. This reserve park attracts travelers with its transport accessibility, the beauty of nature and comfortable leisure conditions. Walking along the canyon is possible for  adults and children. For this, special equipment or physical training is not necessary. Rocks amaze with its splendor, especially at sunset and in the sun.

The height of the rocks rising on the sides of the channel in this section reaches 50 meters, while the distance between them is about 5 meters. Perhaps this is why the narrow canyon was called the "Devil's Gate". The water in the mountain river is clean, the rocky bottom of the canyon is clearly visible. The surroundings of Devil's Gate delight the eye with greenery, even rare plants can be found here. The climate of the area has a riot of flora, and indescribable aroma and fresh air will impress you.

Near the canyon, the recreation center "At Devil's Gate" was created – it has gazebos, a playground, and shops. Nearby, there is a restaurant and a hotel. Local guides and travel agencies offer group and personal canyon tours. To gain new knowledge and at the same time enjoy nature you can visit several sights at once.

Conventionally, the canyon is divided into two parts. Part of the canyon belongs to the Khostinsky branch of the Kh. G. Shaposhnikov Caucasian Natural Biosphere Reserve, a unique Yew-boxwood grove and is protected. To get to its territory, it is necessary to pay eco-fee. The other part (at the recreation center) is in the public domain and entrance fees are not charged.

You can swim in the mountain river Khosta, but you need to consider that the water in it is cool even in the midst of summer. There are places for beach relaxation.   There are a lot of grooves and whirlpools; this especially attracts young guests of the beach area. Also on the territory of the canyon you can find a small lake, classified as a natural monument. The lake itself is very small - 12 meters in diameter and only 4 meters deep. The water in it is crystal clean.

Hotels near the canyon in Khosta

Finding accommodation to your taste and wallet in the canyon area is not difficult; there are many small hotels and hotels near it. Near the Devil's Gate there is a camp site of the same name with access to a canyon where you can rent a gazebo or barbecue, plunge into a natural pool in a mountain river, bask in a bathhouse, listen to live music and buy some goods and souvenirs.

There is a rental point right on the camp site where you can ride horses or rent water transport. Fans of extreme sports can also play paintball.
