Novokosino Station Opens on the Moscow Underground

Novokosino Station: Winged Lights

A new station has opened on the Moscow Underground on August 30, 2012. Novokosino is now the final stop on Kalininskaya Line, connecting the Moscow Region to the centre of the capital.
The station becomes the last one which construction was begun under the former mayor, Yuri Luzhkov. It was designed to accommodate the needs of disabled passengers, so it is equipped with elevators and walking areas especially for wheelchair users.
Novokosino is a shallow single vault station, with two exits/entrances decorated with panels of different colours: the western entrance has light-green panels, the eastern - bright-orange. Architecturally, the station was styled after the airports, the entrance walk and the station interior may well remind one of destination lounges at Heathrow, for instance. The design of the station interior, on the other hand, oozes cool and amplifies the air travel theme with plane wings' styled lights and benches.
Below are a few photos taken at the station.
