Czech Airlines has reduced ticket prices for Russians and cut down on the proposed number of seats on flights from Russia to the Czech Republic. This was the airline’s reaction to the devaluation of the rouble and, consequently, a drop in demand for flights from Russian passengers.
This was reported by “Interfax” referring to the carrier. “The airline company has adopted a number of measures for slowing down the decline in demand for flights from Russia. One of them is the reduction of the cost of flights on the Russian market from December 18, 2014 for all flights of Czech Airlines from Russia to the Czech Republic for the period from January 16 until the end of March 2015. The price of tickets fell by an average of 20-25 percent, flights to regional destinations in Russia became even cheaper” - the company representative said.
In addition, the airline has canceled service charge for issuing a ticket in case of purchasing it on the company’s website from December 18, and also introduced the possibility of ticket payment by bank transfer in case of ordering tickets on the carrier’s website.
Czech Airlines also introduced additional discounts, including for group transportation and the next ticket order. The airline company assured that it was going to respond to a further fall in demand by an additional reduction in capacity offered on scheduled flights in the RF until the end of the winter schedule of 2014-2015.
“The need for cancellation of each specific flight is considered by Czech Airlines on an individual basis, only certain frequencies are cancelled on specific days, so as to maintain air service from Russian regions, on average 2-3 times a week” - the company representative said.
Thus, the carrier adjusts the schedule to the expected demand for each week and keeps the maximum number of flights that is reasonable from the economic point of view.
