January 14, 2017 17:14

An unusual tourist project uniting all the fairy-tale routes in the Urals and Siberia is being implemented in the Urals town of Irbit.

According to the authors, beginning from January 2017, the “Fairy-tale Embassy” project uniting all the information about the routes based on the literary heritage of the Urals and Siberia – tales and epics, legends and fairy tales, will start working on the basis of Folk Life Museum in Irbit.

The majority of the existing fairy-tale tourist routes are located in the central part of Russia, the North-West of the country is also active: there is an Estate of Father Frost in Vologda Oblast, and the residence of Mother Winter is open in Arkhangelsk Oblast.

There is only “The Park of Tales” in Aramil in the Urals for the time being. In addition, the appearance of an unusual road sign – “fairy-tale verst” in Irbit – is planned for 2017. The unusual road sign in Russian versts (1 verst=0.6629 miles) indicates the distance from and direction to the place of birth or residence of the fairy-tale of epic characters. The sign will be first of its kind established in the Urals.

The cultural tourism project “The Fairy-tale Map of Russia” has been implemented since November 2010. During the 6 years of its existence the project gave birth to two dozen new tourist routes and new residences of fairy-tale and epic characters in the North-West, Central and Volga federal districts, according to the author of the project Aleksey Kozlovsky.
