Flights to Cairo from Moscow will Start Since February 1, 2018
January 13, 2018 12:13

According to the online scoreboard of Moscow's Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo airports, flights to Cairo from Moscow will start since February 1.

Flights to the Egyptian capital from Domodedovo since February 1, 2018 will be operated by the airline Egypt Air on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. On the Sheremetyevo website Moscow-Cairo flights are indicated in the seasonal schedule, and will also be carried out three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The carrier is not specified yet.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, by his decree of January 2, allowed regular airlifts between Russia and Cairo. The relevant changes were included in the decree of the President "On Certain Measures to Ensure the National Security of the Russian Federation and Protect Citizens of the Russian Federation from Criminal and Other Illegal Acts" of November 8, 2015, which introduced a ban on Russian air companies for airlifting citizens from the territory of the Russian Federation to Egypt.

Russia suspended air communication with Egypt in late 2015, after a terrorist attack in the sky over the Sinai Peninsula. On the board of the Kogalymavia air company, which was heading from Sharm El Sheikh to St. Petersburg, an explosion occurred. 217 passengers and 7 crew members were killed on board.
