The authorities of the Tula region consider rural tourism as a promising area in the strategy of tourism development in the region until 2035, said the chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development Vladimir Allahverdov.
"About 15 rural tourism facilities are currently operating in the Tula region, most of them located in the Zaoksky and Yasnogorsk Districts bordering the Moscow Region. In general, rural tourism enterprises operate in the form of peasant farms. Given that rural tourism is at the crossroads competencies of several executive bodies, the development of this area requires a comprehensive approach and coherent work of several executive bodies,"- V.Allahverdov comments.
Representatives of rural tourism organizations reported that the distinctive feature of this type of activity is the integration of leisure in the process of agricultural engagement, therefore the main issues are related to land categories and types of permitted use of land.
As reported, the Tula region was included in the top ten Russian regions in the development of tourism. There are 226 tourist routes in the region and 114 inter-regional tourist routes. In 2017, more than 650 thousand people visited the Tula region with tourist purposes, which is 12% more than in 2016. More than 3 million people visited the region on one-day trips with various purposes, including sightseeing.
