We all know that Moscow is rated among the most expensive cities in the world, on that the rising airline taxes and fuel surcharges every now and then make budget backpackers think twice before planning a trip to this picturesque city which is heaven on earth in autumn and spring seasons. But still, Moscow is striving hard to attract foreign tourists. With more than 4 million foreign visitors every year, the city is doing its utmost to increase the number to 7 million in near future.

Thanks to the rising competition among the online travel companies providing airline tickets to Moscow, travelers can now book air tickets at low fares. However, there are a few tips to be kept in mind while booking flights to Moscow to get the best airfare guarantee.

Tips to Book Cheap Flights to Moscow

So, before you book your tickets to Moscow compare the prices offered by other airlines as well.

Most of the people choose Sheremetyevo International Airport while booking air tickets to Moscow. However, a bit of flexibility in choice of airports can help you save hundreds of dollars on your air travel. Domodedovo International Airport is a good alternative in terms of money, time and comfort. The airport can be conveniently reached by Aeroexpress speed trains with a train station located directly inside the airport. Many international airline carriers, including Lufthansa and British Airways use Domodedovo. It is also the main hub of Transaero(the largest domestic airline carrier in Russia) and S7.

Advance Purchase & Sunday Rule: If you are planning a trip to Moscow, the first thing is to book your tickets. It is advised to book tickets three months in advance to get the best fare because airfares of flights to Moscow tend to rise as the departure date approaches. If not three months or three weeks in advance, book them at least 7 days in advance otherwise you may have to pay a considerably high price for the same seat. If you are booking a return ticket to Moscow, make sure to check the Sunday rule. Most of the airlines providing services to Moscow have a condition to spend one Saturday night in Moscow to get the best deal.

Discount/Special Deals: They offer various types of discounts ranging from student travel discount to youth travel discounts provided by travel agencies. And if you are planning to get cheapest airfare deals on Aeroflot, book your tickets at the time of Aeroflot Aktsiya.
