Single Ticket To The Crimea
April 21, 2014 14:22

The Ministry of Transport is planning that a "single ticket" for a trip from the Russian cities to Crimea through the Kerch crossing will be put on sale by the beginning of the summer season. The Head of the Ministry of Transport Maxim Sokolov told journalists after the meeting on transport accessibility of Crimea, held in the «Kerch» port.

What is a "single ticket"?
"In accordance with the request of the Prime Minister, we work through a straight rate, which means that a passenger buying a ticket at the train ticket office, even if the train goes to Anapa, Novorossiysk or Krymsk, at the same time can acquire an additional coupon for a bus to Kerch ferry, a ticket for the ferry itself and finally a ticket directly to the place of his vacation in Crimea, the Minister said. - We will try to print them on a single form." According to him, the scheme of passenger delivery to Crimea from Russian territory needs to be worked out before the May holidays, but a single ticket could appear in ticket offices by June 1.

How much the transportation will cost?
Prices for such transportation to be adjusted by "Transportation Management." "The crossing fee will be single, but with regards of the bus service, we will negotiate as we did during the Olympic Games, Sokolov explained. - Either this transportation will be subsidized or regulated directly from one center – the Transportation Management."

He added that in case if a single ticket will be introduced, the Russian Railways is expected to assume the actual responsibility for a passenger, who travels by train, by ferry over the sea, and by buses. On average, each month during the peak season the Crimea will be visited by 500 thousand people. For the transport infrastructure it means a daily flow of about 10-15 thousand passengers. We would have to sign contracts directly with all transportation and insurance companies to manage mutual settlements. All this is a difficult legal process," Sokolov declared. "The task is challenging, but solvable," he concluded. - It is expected that about 2-3 million people from Russia will visit Crimea in this season, Sokolov added.

The biggest flow will be in the three summer months. The rest of the tourists will come for holidays in May and September-October.

How else to reach the Crimea?
Significant number of tourists, according to the minister, will arrive in the Crimea by airlines. "In the summer we will have about 140 flights a week," said the head of department. - And the ministry hopes to increase the number of flights after working on the issues of subsidizing Crimean itineraries. One part of the passenger flow will be taken by intercity bus service. "We have 7 routes from Crimea to Taman. We consider resumption of the old routes: there were 22 of them," Sokolov said. The railroad is ready to transport the major part of the tourists. The Minister explained that in the case of an increase in demand for travel to the Crimea via Krasnodar Krai, in this area the number of trains can be increased to 24.
