Utair Airlines, Government of the Kaluga Oblast and Internal Troops High Command of Russian Federation signed a tripartite agreement on intentions to implement the investment project of building Yermolino International Airport and reconstruction of Yermolino Airport (Balabanovo) in the Kaluga Oblast.
According to the document, the Oblast Government will assist in attracting investors; will provide support to the project in accordance with the legal acts of the Russian Federation and the Kaluga Oblast; will coordinate actions with federal authorities. Internal Troops High Command of Russian Federation will conclude with the UTair Airlines an agreement on joint basing and operation of the airport, and also will provide assistance in opening the airport for international flights.
UTair Airlines will take measures on preparation of the airfield for use in accordance with the requirements for civil airfields and also will consider arranging structural units at the airfield for harboring its aircrafts. In the framework of project implementation there will be constructed: a platform with total area of 250 thousand m² and parking for 45 aircrafts; the passenger terminal with capacity of 2500 passengers per hour; fueling station; rescue station; service and technical area facilities; utilities and engineering structures, as well as a hotel complex, public catering facilities, an automobile road to the airport and a railway. According to the project, the airport will meet the standards of II-nd ICAO category.
The projected date of putting the airport into service is 2017. Reconstruction of the airport and building of an international airport will unload the existing airports of Moscow Aviation Hub and will provide air transportation to guests and participants of 2018 World Cup. In the result of project implementation there will be created more than 3.5 thousand jobs.
