Moscow-Kazan High-speed Railway
February 23, 2016 00:53

RZD plans to build a high-speed railway Moscow-Kazan in three years. This was said by the first Vice-President of RZD Alexandr Misharin, reports Rambler News Service.

“It means that the passengers will start using the railway (Moscow-Kazan) in 2020. This actually is a very short time limit. We are going to devote this year to planning which leaves us three years and a bit to build it”, he said. He mentioned that RZD will set up a testing ground by 2018 and in 2019 the stock is going to be certified. In 2016 some people said that the launching date of the highway has been postponed to 2021. Initially the time for the first speedy train was supposed to be sent in 2020. According to the new plan, the building should be complete by summer 2020 and the operating permit should be received by December 2020. The beginning of road works is set to January 2017.

The cost of the new high-speed railway is estimated to 1.07 trillion rubles. The length of the road will be 770 km and the trains can reach the speed of 400 km/h. The building will take place in 7 different regions of Russian Federation. The building will be done by a Russian-Chinese company. China is willing to invest up to 1/3 of the cost. A fraction of the money will be provided as credits from Chinese banks.
