How to return the ticket if you are sick?

If you get sick and cannot travel,  you have to return tickets only at the ticket office at your station (and nowhere else). If there is a  return ticket office at the train station, then you should go there.

It is necessary to submit:

• the document indicated in the order (original passport and birth certificate for children);
• ticket on the form (if the ticket is without electronic registration) or the order number (if the ticket is registered online);
• documents proving the fact of illness - a certificate from the hospital or a sick leave sheet.
• Moreover, it will be required to fill out an application in the ticket office (the form will be issued by the cashier).

If you paid the ticket with a bank card, the money will be refunded to this card.  In case of illness, a certificate from the hospital is added to the list of documents that are required to be submitted at the ticket office of JSC Russian Railways. The certificate should be issued in the country you are leaving.

Please note: the money will be returned  only in case a certificate from the hospital or sick leave sheet was provided.

If there was a misfortune, an accident and so on, and you do not have a certificate from the hospital, you can file a claim to the carrier within 6 months from the departure of the train. But all claims are considered individually and there are no guarantees for refund. Details on filing a claim please check with the carrier.
